We’ve been working out a plan to welcome our guests safely and ensuring that you will still be able to enjoy the full ‘White House experience’. Things are going to look a little different and become our “new norm” for the foreseeable future. We are looking forward to welcoming you back. Please find some details below of how we are adjusting to this new normal at The White House.

1.What if the situation changes again or I need to cancel my stay at short notice? We recognise that it’s very hard for anyone to make firm commitments for anything at the moment, so for the time being we will show a sincere commitment to be understanding in all scenarios connected to Covid 19.

2. What new cleaning routines have we introduced since Covid 19? We are unable to service the rooms, in order to ensure maximum safely for you and for our team, during your stay at the moment due to the airborne nature of transmission. We’ve always had a rigorous cleaning and hygiene routine however our fabulous housekeeping team is stepping it up a notch and you’ll see continuous cleaning and disinfecting around “touch points”- door knobs, handles, in the loos, remote controls, light switches etc… in the main areas of the house. We’ve implemented a “deep cleaning” process for bedrooms using the recommended hospital grade cleaning materials so expect even squeakier clean rooms on arrival! Our kitchen will continue with their strict cleaning regimes as well as observing social distancing. We’ve all become more familiar with regular hand washing etc… our teams both front and back of house are all adhering to this before, during and after their shifts and to complement this we’ll have hand sanitiser available around the hotel for both team and guests to use.

3. How will you ensure social distancing around the hotel? The guest experience will look a little different but our priority is your comfort and experience. We don’t want to appear unfriendly, but we will be careful to back away and maintain social distance. We will be opening windows and doors to encourage airflow in all the communal areas. We’ll have everything all clean and ready for you, so you can really relax.

We’ve tried to think of everything to keep everyone safe and comfortable, so during your stay we will encourage guests to use their bedroom loo rather than the public loo if possible.

We’re extremely lucky at The White House as we have our gorgeous terraces, walled garden and huge front lawn - which are all yours. We’ll ensure we place as many tables and seating around to make sure everyone has room to relax outside (as long as the British summer weather plays ball!) Inside we will space out tables and reduce our capacity in the breakfast rooms to observe correct social distancing for guests and team alike. Cleaning will continue to be a priority for our team.

4. How do I know the team looking after me are not ill? We are nothing without our wonderful team and their well-being is a top priority, therefore we have implemented the necessary health checks prior to interacting with our guests each day. Face masks are available for our teams to use if they wish although they are not required to wear them.

5. The health, safety and wellbeing of our guests and team is our priority. We ask that you do not visit The White House if you have been to any of the countries not listed on the Government website of quarantine exempted travel destinations in the past 14 days, or if you feel unwell. If you experience the relevant symptoms within 14 days after staying with us, please contact us on 07785 439727 or by email hello@stayatthewhitehouse.co.uk so that we can manage the necessary communications with our team and other guests.
